Local History Librarians’ National Conference
Bekescsaba, 12th-14th July, 2006.
The three-day-long conference brought into focus the following topics: our cultural heritage, tourism and libraries taking part in European Union projects. Numerous foreign experts also attended the conference (from Slovakia, Romania, Spain). Two foreign lectures - given by Rob Davis (England) and Ioannis Trohopoulos (Greece - Veria) - raised the standard of the meeting, too. Ioannis Trohopoulos presented Veriagrid, talked about the activity of the Town Library of Veria and its role in several European Union projects, which aroused a lot of interest among Hungarian librarians. Dr. Ambrus Zoltan informed the audience about the activity of the Bekes CountyLibrary in the Light Project, and presented the Koros-Maros Cultural Heritage Website. The lecturers and participants had the opportunity of getting acquainted with some of the region’s sights, traditions and natural values in the form of a study-tour on the second day of the conference.
