Cultural heritage is an important issue in people’s life these days and this project want to make access easy and interesting

Five libraries in five countries

The project is a cooperation between five European countries all EU-member states. You’ll meet five different libraries with their own approach to cultural heritage. The Light Operation will show that effective co-operation and partnerships between local and regional Cultural Heritage Institutions can benefit regional development priorities in both social and economic spheres The LIGHT Operation will demonstrate the potential role of Public Libraries in establishing regional platforms for cooperation and knowledge sharing.

The pilot applications

The pilot applications are very different. The range from the Veria Grid (local information based on GPS technology, Bekes focuses on the cultural heritage of food in the specific area, Bologna has made timeline of the city, Lisbon shows old maps of the city and new combined with local information and Roskilde has made a cultural portal. The broad variety shows the potentials in library co-operation on cultural heritage.
